JK Jemma Kidd International Makeup Artist, Korben Niblett pulls out his beauty armour in a bid to mix-up your make-up:
"Jemma was a supermodel before she developed the Jemma Kidd Make-up School, which very much focused on education and teaching. She kind of missed the fashion side of herself after modelling so she created JK, to express Jemma as a fashion icon, to target the uber chic woman and make-up junky.”
What is the hero product of the JK range?
“We have a number of hero products but one of my favourites has to be Mannequin Skin. It’s a really great complexion enhancer and makeup base and no matter what your skin type is, it will illuminate your skin and ensure your make-up lasts. Another one would be our Iconic Eyes. It’s really long-lasting, smudge-proof, waterproof make-up. These pencil have a high content of jojoba oil, making them really smooth and masters at gliding over your skin. Lastly, our Lip ID is a sell-out and perfect for those ladies who just don’t know what colour to wear over their lips. It reacts naturally to your own pH balance and gives you your own individual colour.”
Do you have any great tips for using this range?
“When mastering a straight, sharp eye line, imagine that there’s a line going from your lower lashline, upwards and place a dot where your crease meets that line. This is the ideal point for your eye liner to flick.”
What make-up trends have you noticed coming off catwalks?
“There were two clear trends at fashion week for me. One was the natural look, which is all about minimal colour and a natural, clear, dewy complexion. The other trend was completely on the other end of the spectrum - matte skin with statement colour on the face, either statement lips or eye liner but just one feature.”
What are the rules for your dress matching your make-up?
“There are absolutely no rules, quite the opposite - big contrast works amazingly! If you’re going for a bright luminous green dress then a contrasting blue would look amazing. Nothing has to match. It’s all about combinations and contrast.”
And what about skin what are your recommendations?
“As a teen, you need to be aware of your skin type and also be aware that your skin type can change. So even though you might have problematic skin now, or during you exams, it may not be like that forever – in fact, it probably won’t be. And never underestimate the power of taking your makeup off at the end of the night, its essential!
And in brief, can you finish these sentences?
Eye brows should be… “structured, and well shaped for your face”
Eyes should be…“flattered by long, luscious lashes.”
Lashes should be… “fat!”
Lips should be…“glossy and luxurious, whether you’re using lipsticks, or natural glosses”
