Want to find some new pals but don’t know where to find them or how to make the first move? Read on to learn our top tips for upping your friend requests.
Making the first move
So where exactly are you supposed to start looking for these great new pals? Sitting on your computer ‘liking’ all their Facebook pics certainly won’t do the trick. Start by getting involved in a group activity like a sports team, dance class or fan club (1D, anyone?). Being the ‘new girl’ in the group might seem scary at first, but remember, you’re all there because you share the same interests. And, believe it or not, being yourself is the best way to get in with new friends. What could be a better ice breaker than Harry Style's amazing locks?!
Re-evaluate your approach
If you’re still struggling to connect with people and are already involved in a social activity, maybe it’s time to step back and re-evaluate your approach. Instead of rushing to your boyfriend’s house after a game, why not suggest dinner with your teammates? The more time you invest in getting to know others, the easier it will be for them to see (and appreciate!) you as the real you.
Keep an open mind
Just because someone is Team Edward doesn’t mean you can’t be friends. Try to keep an open mind when making new buds – and the same goes for guys as well! It’s all too easy to sort the guys you know in to two groups – the ones you crush on and the one’s you don’t. But what we sometimes forget is that a boy, believe it or not, could actually be a really good friend! Added bonus: You’ll get to meet all his cute mates!
Take it slow
So you’re seriously crushing on a guy. What’s next? Do you run up to him and suddenly announce you two are now a couple? Um, we’d hope not. The same goes for making friends. Wait until you feel comfortable with each other before you start planning your Gossip Girl marathon slumber. Also try to skip any potentially awkward situations like running out of things to talk about on your one hour train ride to the beach, and instead, opt for something casual. Movie girl-date, anyone?
