My boyfriend gets really jealous...

Dear DOLLY InnerGirl,
I have a boyfriend and he gets jealous really easily. At the moment I’m learning ballroom dancing and have to dance with other guys. He doesn't want me doing it and when I did the first lesson he got so angry that he didn't talk to me at all. We have another lesson on Wednesday and I explained to him I have to do it or I’ll get in trouble, but he doesn't understand. He just says, "If you do it I won't talk to you for a week”. I don't want that to happen at all but I also don't want to get in trouble. Do you have any advice on what I should do? I’m just really confused and stressed out.

Hello K,

It seems you're between a rock and a hard place. Asking for advice is a natural response, but the answer can be found by yourself. Your boyfriend's jealousy is his problem. He is overreacting to your innocent contact with other guys. This is quite a big wake up call for you and you have choices. Take some time out with your boyfriend, and let him talk about times in the past when people have let him down. That is basically what jealousy is about. It’s a fear of being rejected. Remember his behaviour is nothing to do with you. It is his stuff. You keep doing your sport module. If he continues to play the victim after your talk, and you want to continue the relationship, you will need to choose to change. Accept that he will not change. Or choose to move on!

you need to get out of this relationship. i was with my bf for about two years and he got jealous so easily. i ended up losing my male friends and pretty much had no life. if its like this now imagine what he will be like in the future. i looked past the jealousy with my boyfriend but in the end i lost a lot and regret that i never saw the signs from what friends were telling me etc.

my boyfriend gets really jealous too, if you love them you ignore it. but if its really getting to you, find someone better girl. x L .x

maybe u should talk 2 him, and really make sure he knows that u understand where hes coming from, and why he would be jealous

u shouldnt have to give up somethin u like coz ur boyfriend dont like it- this one aint worth keepin
