If you haven't heard of Short Stack, (err have you been sleeping for the last four years?) then it's time to start listening! They are Australia's hottest punk rock band and have been winning hearts (including ours at DOLLY!) since they got together in 2008.
Likened to Australia's rock legends Powderfinger, Short Stack consists of frontman Shaun Diviney, 22, on lead vocals and electric guitar, Andy Clemmensen, 23, on backing vocals and bass, and Bradie Webb, 21, on the drums.
The band originates from the Central Coast in NSW and first met on a train on the way to school in Newcastle. From that moment, Short Stack was formed and they haven't looked back since! Having shared the stage with musicians by the likes of Hellogoodbye, McFly, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and The Veronicas, Short Stack are a band to watch!
Named Channel [v]'s Oz artists of the year twice in 2008 and 2009, Short Stack also have two gold selling albums, three top 10 singles, a number one ARIA chart award and a platinum selling single. Yikes they're obviously not just pretty faces!
During July this year, the boys raised the roof of the Melbourne Festival Hall during their This is Bat Country tour. Supported by Because They Can and Heroes for Hire, the crowd were wild by the time the boys arrived on stage, and were treated to a show-stopping performance.
Like most upcoming bands, these boys released a couple of singles and then developed a heavy social media following. Their official Facebook page has over 156,000 likes and they have over 26,000 followers on Twitter. One point of difference this band has is a very active YouTube channel, which features episodes of the boys lives called The Adventures of Short Stack, which has over 25,000 subscribers.
The band also released their first documentary-based movie titled The Story of Short Stack earlier this year, which follows their journey to stardom a must-watch for all Stackers! The movie, produced by Andy, only aired in cinemas for one night on October 27, 2011. If you missed it, don't stress, it's available now on DVD!
