Look out R-Pattz, there’s a new blood-sucker getting our attention in a BIG way. Xavier Samuel is set to take on the role of vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight saga. But that’s not even the coolest thing about Xavier. Mr Samuel is Aussie! That’s right, one of our very own.
Born 10th December, 1983 in Hamilton, Victoria, Xavier (yep, we’re on a first name basis, of course) has been making quite the name for himself in the US as the newest recruit of the Twilight film franchise.
After making his TV debut on McLeod’s Daughters, Xavier went on to star in several Aussie films before scoring the sought after role of Riley in Eclipse. He was so good he beat Channing Tatum and Tom Felton for the role. Go Xavier!
Xavier plays Riley Biers, a popular and spunky college student who is sucked in by Victoria to join her evil crew that aim to kill Bella.
Set to receive the same kind of attention reserved for R-Pattz and K-Stew, X-Sam (like it?) is yet to have any weird fan encounters.
I've had a few people on the street go, 'Riley, Riley!' Which I think is kind of funny…but I think that sort of support and enthusiasm is really wonderful. People obviously really enjoy these stories and I think that's a great thing," Xavier told CTV British Columbia.
If this cutie isn’t cool enough already, want to know something else? He used to be in a band! The rock group was called ‘Hyatus’ where he was the lead singer. Did Xavier Samuel’s hotness just go up 541 points, or what?
Another random Xavier fact: he loves animals…even if they don’t love him!
While filming Eclipse Xavier was strolling through a Toronto park with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard when he spotted a racoon! But Xavier’s excitement was short lived – the "cute" creature proceeded to bite him! Not a great first encounter with the Raccoon species.
"You should see the photos because it's kind of like a before and during shot.... There's one photo of me happily sitting next to this raccoon and the next photo is this furry ball launching at me. It bit my finger and Bryce was still taking photos and I was like, 'Bryce I think I need medical attention’,” Xavier told CTV British Columbia.
Based in Sydney, Xavier has an older sister, Bridget and a younger brother, Benedict. Check him out in Eclipse, out 1st July (as if you needed reminding).
