Rumour has it that Katy Perry will play Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe in the Broadway adaptation of My Week With Marilyn — the movie featuring Michelle Williams and Emma Watson which has already received a big thumbs-up from the reviewers, despite it being not due for release until January.
This would be Katy's first foray into musical theatre, with her only other main 'acting' credit being the voice of Smurfette in The Smurfs movie which was released earlier this year.
But what Katy might lack in acting credentials she makes up for with her powerful voice and bombshell style — typical of Monroe who was a movie actress, style icon and global superstar back in the 1950's.
The My Week With Marilyn story is a behind-the-scenes look at a week in Marilyn Monroe's life during the filming of the movie The Prince and the Showgirl, where she befriends a young man who works as a runner on set, and is defenceless to her notorious charms.
We'd love to see Katy in this role, and with Marilyn's signature blonde locks — it seems Katy's already tried every other hair colour!
